Eli Heller has dedicated his professional career to helping individuals. Prior to starting law school Eli Received his B.A in English Literature from Messiah College in 2005. After Graduating from College Eli and His wife Joined the U.S. Peace Corps where they served for two years as education volunteers in the Philippines. While there, Eli and His wife built two libraries, successfully drafted grants securing funding for computer labs for two local schools and He helped to create sustainable recycling program in the local town. After successfully completing his Peace Corps service, Eli and his wife moved on to teach English in Seoul South Korea for two years.
After returning to the United States, Eli Attended the University of Akron School of Law. During law School, Eli tutored first year law students in civil procedures, was a member of the nationally ranked Akron Trial Team, and he was elected Student bar Association President.
After Graduating Law school Eli went on to work at the Portage County Public Defender’s office. It was there that he continued to hone his skills appearing in court conducting trials and various hearings. Eli continued to aid underserved communities as a Legal Defender for summit county, while at the same time running his own private practice specializing in criminal defense.
Currently at Hoover Kacyon, Eli is a trial lawyer in criminal and traffic matters who also handles civil protection order hearings. Eli is experienced in negotiating desirable plea deals and has successfully worked with prosecutors throughout northeast Ohio to reach mutually beneficial results without going to trial. In addition, Eli has experience as lead attorney on more than a dozen jury trials and he has successfully received not guilty verdicts for clients in complicated situations. Eli has handled advanced felony cases for felonious assaults, Domestic Violence, trafficking in narcotics and various weapons charges. Eli regularly practices in Municipal Courts including, Stow, Akron, Kent, Ravenna and many more. Eli represents clients on cases ranging from simple traffic offenses all the way to complex OVI charges, and domestic violence matters.
Most recently in the summer of 2023 Eli Heller became a graduate of the 3 week intensive training program of the Trial lawyers College. The Trial Lawyers College is dedicated to training and educating lawyers and judges who are committed to the jury system and to representing and obtaining justice for individuals and to protecting the rights of such people from corporate and government oppression. Eli is one of only 5 other attorneys practicing criminal law in Summit and Portage counties to have completed this rigorous program.
When Eli is not practicing Law, you can find him enjoying time with his family or hiking one of the many amazing Metro park trails.
